Dr. Sowjanya Reganti, MD
Dr. Sowjanya Reganti joined Alpine Hematology-Oncology in August of 2008. She received her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) from The University of Bangalore, Sri Siddhartha Medical College in Tumkur India in 2000. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. She completed her fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Loyola University, Cardinal Benardin Cancer Center in Maywood, IL. Dr. Reganti is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology.
As a medical student doing rotations in the United States, Dr Reganti received many honors, including the following:
- Fellow of the Year Award 2008, Loyola University Medical Center, for her excellence in clinical instruction and education.
- Chairman’s Award 2005, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, selected by her attending as the
physician who exemplifies excellence in patient care
- Ambulatory Care Award 2005, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital
Spirit Award 2002, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital
Dr. Reganti is a member of the American Society of Hematology, an Associate
Member of ASCO, and a Member of AVAHO. Striving to improve her community, she has volunteered on several health-related committees, including a school for underprivileged children, a polio program, and continues to work as Coordinator of the Orphans Education Trust. She has participated in research, poster presentations, writing, and reviewing for publication.
Dr Reganti is currently serving as a Trustee for Nevada Oncology Society (2009-2011) and is also a Member of the Washoe County Medical Society. In addition, she has been a Credential Medical Education Committee Member at Renown Medical Centre since 2008, and serves as Vice Chair for Medical Services Division at Saint Mary’s hospital. She is also a Member of the Breast Steering Committee at Renown.
Dr. Reganti states that, “My cancer patients are very special to me. I believe in treating the whole person, not just the disease. In my life, the best teachers have been my patients.” She works to offer cutting edge treatments by making clinical trials available in our community so that the patients do not have to spend time away from home and family.
Dr. Reganti is married and has two children. She enjoys spending time with her family, and it is that important sense of family connection that she extends to her patients. An avid reader, Dr. Reganti is currently expanding her interests to include outdoor activities like hiking and skiing since moving to the West Coast.
